Support for Waverley’s businesses during lockdown 3

On 5 January, the Chancellor announced a new £4.6b funding package, aimed at supporting businesses through the latest COVID restrictions.

New grant schemes were announced, which will be directly administered by the council, including:

  • A one-off top up grant for eligible retail, hospitality and leisure businesses worth up to £9,000 per property, that will be available in addition to other Local Restriction Support Grants.
  • An additional £594m in discretionary funding for local authorities to support other impacted businesses.

Currently, we are awaiting detailed information and confirmation on funding and eligibility criteria for these schemes from the Government and expect to receive this by the end of next week. Whilst we cannot make any payments until we receive this, we are already reallocating resources and putting systems in place to ensure we can process applications and pay businesses as quickly as possible, once we have the relevant confirmation.

If you would like to stay informed or receive an update as soon as the new grant schemes go live, please sign up to our business e-newsletter by visiting the council’s dedicated business website: www.businesswaverley.co.uk.

The Business Waverley website also has an extensive range of information, tools, links to training opportunities and other resources to help and support businesses in the borough. You can also contact our colleagues at Enterprise Business South, who provide free business support and advice.
