The Coronation of King Charles III

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort logo

To mark the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, there will be a three-day bank holiday weekend from Saturday 6 May to Monday 8 May 2023.

Are you planning a street party with your neighbours? Or a Coronation ‘Big Lunch’?

If so, we would be happy to promote your events. You can submit them to our events webpage and on our What’s on Waverley Facebook page.

Street party and road closures

If you are planning on holding a street party or parade that will require the road to be closed to traffic, you will need to apply for a road closure order - you must apply by 3 April 2023. This is to make sure your application will be processed in time.

For advice on planning a street party, visit GOV.UK or The Street Party Site.

How to get involved

We will be adding local events that are happening in the borough but if you want to find out more on Coronation events in general or how you can get involved in the celebrations, including ‘The Big Lunch’ or The Big Help Out  you can visit Get involved – Coronation of His Majesty The King & Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

There is also an interactive map you can view to explore what events are happening in your local area in the run up to, and over, the Coronation weekend. More events will continue to be added over the coming weeks too.

If you have any queries or issues submitting events to our website and social media, please email us at communications@waverley.gov.uk
