The Museum of Farnham charts the town's history through its reserve collections of archives, fine art, costume, archaeology and social history.

If you have a question, or would like to look at items not on display, please don't hesitate to contact the museum.

Fine Art

Highlights of the fine art collection include drawings by the architect Harold Falkner, paintings by Stephen Elmer and W.H. Allen and prints of the town and local area. For further works by Allen, try the Allen Gallery in Alton.

Costume

The Museum has a selection of women's fashion from the late Eighteenth Century to the late Twentieth Century. There are shoes, hats and children's clothes. We do not have much in the way of men's fashion. For further costume collections, try Chertsey Museum.

Archaeology

The archaeology collection includes Alice Holt pottery, local paleolithic and mesolithic finds and a selection of flint tools. For further archaeology of the area, try Haslemere or Guildford museums.

Archives

This archives consist of a huge range of local material. There are archive catalogues in the Local Studies Library. There is also a photographic collection which includes images by John Henry Knight. Further archival material can be found at Surrey History Centre in Woking, or the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester

Social History

The social history collection is primarily made up of domestic items. For more agricultural items, try the Rural Life Centre in Tilford.
