We examine drawings of proposed building works and inspect works in progress.
We issue notices or approval or rejection for plans and provide you with completion certificates for for satisfactorily completed works.
If you are a developer and you do not comply with any verbal or written instructions from us, we can take legal action against you, under the provisions of the Building Act 1984.
Demolition and dangerous structures
The
Building Control Service is also responsible for dealing with
demolitions and dangerous structures (attending dangerous structures
out of hours, as necessary) under the provisions of the Building Act

The Service provides technical support to other Waverley services.
This
work includes, checking the fairness of contractor's estimates for
grant aided works and advising development control of breaches of
planning permission.
