Making payments to the council

Ways of paying

You can pay in any one of the following ways:

  • Online

Pay online by debit or credit card. This payment facility is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

  • By phone

You can make payments using your telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 01483 861498.

  • By Direct Debit

You can pay by direct debit.

  • Standing Order / Online Banking

You can arrange with your bank to pay by standing order or, if you bank online, you can make your payments electronically.

  • At a Post Office or PayPoint retail outlet 

You can pay by cash at a Post Office or PayPoint retail outlet anywhere in the country.  

  • By Cheque

You can make payments by sending a cheque in the post.

for any of the following:

  • Council Tax
  • Parking fine
  • Housing or Garage rent
  • Invoice for Council services
  • Business rates
  • Parking permits/Season tickets
  • Council mortgages

Whichever method of payment you choose it is important to quote the correct reference number in order that the payment reaches our account as quickly as possible.  Please read our brief guide on how to find the correct reference number.
