Two Waverley parks need your votes to be crowned the UK’s Best Park.

Both Broadwater Park in Farncombe and Farnham Park have been nominated for the Fields in Trust accolade by local residents. Now they need as many votes as possible from members of the public, as they are up against 33 others in the South East of England category.

Councillor Kevin Deanus, Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “It’s great to see that two of our parks are in with a chance of winning the competition.

“Both parks were awarded Green Flags this year and are kept in brilliant condition by our contractors, rangers and volunteers. I know there are a lot of people out there who love to spend time in these parks so I would appeal to them to vote so they get the recognition they deserve.

“Voting is quick and easy; it only takes five minutes and it really would top off a fantastic year for our parks and green spaces to get one more award. Everyone has until at 5pm on Friday 3 November to cast their vote and make sure Waverley’s parks have the best chance of winning.”

Once votes have been cast a shortlist will be announced and the park with the most votes in each of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and their nominators will be invited to attend the Fields in Trust Awards on Wednesday 29 November, where the UK's Best Park 2017 will be announced.
