Residents are being invited by Waverley Borough Council to comment on the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) preliminary charging schedule.
Councillor Brian Adams, Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy, said: “CIL allows councils to raise funds from developers to fund infrastructure needed across the borough, as a result of development. This will be a major contribution in helping us fund the infrastructure gap, which our residents tell us is one of the biggest issues in the borough.
“The financial contributions secured will be used to improve roads, schools, parks, playgrounds and other community facilities.
“The CIL preliminary charging schedule sets out the proposed charges for developments and what the proposed charge will be. We want to know what you think so we can make sure we are charging the right amount for development across the borough.”
The six week consultation that started on the 19 June, asks residents, developers and other interested parties what they think about the preliminary draft charging schedule.
There are a number of ways to take part in the consultation:
- Using the council’s online consultation system (the council’s preferred option) at: www.waverley.gov.uk/CIL
- Emailing your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you do not have internet access, the consultation document is available from the planning reception of the Waverley Borough Council offices, The Burys, Godalming, GU7 1HR, and at locality offices and public libraries within the Borough.
The deadline for responses is Monday 31 July 2017.
