Two playground refurbishments for Waverley

Updates to playgrounds make the summer that much brighter for children across the borough.

Children are set to benefit this summer from the complete refurbishment of two playgrounds in Waverley.

The upgrades at Morley Road Recreation Ground, Farnham, and Canon Bowrings Recreation Ground, on Lower Manor Road in Farncombe, Godalming, provide up-to-date and exciting, quality play spaces for children, which also enhance the local environment.

The playgrounds were refurbished after extensive consultations with members of the Waverley community, including children, parents, grandparents and carers. Local residents were asked for feedback on local playgrounds, and were given the opportunity to vote for which play equipment they would like to see available.

Using these results, play companies designed new playgrounds to meet the requirements of residents, who were then able to vote for their favourite designs.

The refurbishment at Morley Road, Farnham, which has seen the playground double in size, was completed at the end of July, and cost £35,000; that at Canon Bowrings, Farncombe, was finished mid-June, and cost £40,000.
