Look out for your new bin
The distribution of the new blue recycling wheelie bins and food waste caddies will begin on Monday 27 February.

When will I receive my bin?
The bins are being delivered by our contractor TJK. During the first two weeks we will concentrate on delivering to the borough's rural areas. We will then deliver to homes in towns and built-up areas.
See the bin delivery schedule.
We aim to have completed the distribution by 5 April. If you have not received your new bin by this time please contact us.
Please continue to use your existing boxes and baskets until we launch the new service on Monday 16 April.
How the service will work
We will empty your black wheelie bin one week and your blue recycling bin the following week. Food waste will be collected every week and this will be on the same day that we collect your recycling/rubbish.
General recycling - in your blue wheelie bin, or communal recycling bin, you will be able to recycle cardboard, silver foil, Tetra Pak drink and food cartons and a wider range of 'hard' plastics such as meat trays and yoghurt pots. You will also be able to recycle paper, glass, cans and plastic bottles.
Food waste recycling - you will be able to recycle all food waste including raw and cooked meat, fish, bones, leftovers from your plate, bread, raw and cooked vegetables etc.
All other rubbish - in your black wheelie bin, or communal rubbish bin, you will be able to dispose of all other household rubbish that cannot be recycled.
What will happen if you live in a flat
If you live in a property that has a shared waste point, separate recycling bins will be provided in the communal area.
People who have a black sack collection
If you have a black sack collection you will continue to receive this service for the collection of your household rubbish and the new and wider range of recycling will be collected from your existing boxes and baskets.
Assisted collections
If you receive an assisted collection for your household rubbish and food waste we will automatically provide an assisted collection for your recycling. If you currently have an assisted collection for recycling only, unless you contact us to say otherwise, we will assume this service is no longer needed once we introduce a wheelie bin for your recycling.
Your collection day
We may need to change your collection day so that we can make the collection rounds more efficient. We will write to you in mid-March to let you know your collection day.
Your old recycling boxes and baskets
If you are able to find an alternative use for your boxes and baskets you are welcome to keep them. If you would like us to recycle them please leave them out on the boundary of your property between 16 and 30 April. Our contractor will collect them at some point during this two-week period. The collection will not necessarily be on the same day that we empty your bin. If you prefer you can recycle them at your local County Council tip/dump.
