Strategic Environment Assessment and Appropriate Assessment

During the preparation of an SPD, it is required for Waverley Borough Council, under Regulation 9 of the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004 and Regulation 102 of the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 to undertake screening opinions to determine whether a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) or Appropriate Assessment (AA) will be required.

In accordance with the regulations, the three stakeholders Historic England, Natural England and the Environment Agency must be consulted on the report, and their comments fed into the final decision.

It has been determined, following the stakeholder's comments, that neither a SEA or AA are required for the Shopfront Design Guide SPD. Their comments and the final determination can be viewed in the Draft Shopfront Design Guide Screening Statement.

The screening decision was made on 30 July 2015 and published on the website on the same day.
