Shamley Green is a site managed by Waverley Borough Council’s Countryside service. The site comprises mainly of common land open grassland including a cricket green leased out, a public house with open space leased out , a pond which holds a population of great crested newts, watercourse networks and a roadside woodland strip.
The overall management of Shamley Green is to retain its rural character and to reduce urbanisation as practically possible. Key features to retain include the pond, open grassland areas and important mature trees; and to replant when we loose important trees where necessary, with native species.
