2009/2010 - Surrey Police Capping
Local Government Minister John Healey confirmed on 13 May 2009 that the Government will take action to tackle excessive council tax increase set by Surrey Police Authority.
Parliament approved the Capping Order on 9 July 2009 and Surrey Police set a Subsitute Budget on 17 July 2009.
Waverley confirmed a new lower council tax effective from 1 April 2009 on 21 July 2009.
Waverley issued all council tax payers with a revised bill on 11 August 2009.
Payments made after 31 July 2009 were not on revised 11 August bills.
The reduction in the average council tax bill was just £3.24 for the whole year.
The first instalment to take the change into account was on 1 September 2009.
Please continue to pay the amount stated on your current bill until you receive the adjusted bill.
