Pay council tax
How to pay your council tax
You usually pay your council tax bill in instalments over 10 months.
Your council tax account number
When you come to pay your council tax, you will need to use your council tax account number so that any payment is credited to you and not someone else.
It is the eight-digit number printed in a box at the top right-hand corner of the bill (eg 11098113).
Pay council tax by direct debit
The easiest way to pay your Council Tax is by direct debit. You normally pay in 10 monthly instalments, from April to January each year.
To set this up, please call us on: 01483 523500, between 8.45am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. This avoids delay and having to fill in any paperwork. Please have your bank account number and sort code available when you ring. These can be found on your bank statement.
You can also download and fill in the Council tax direct debit form.
Want to pay in 12 instalments instead?
For 2013/2014, you can now pay by 12 instalments instead of 10. Please call us on 01483 523500 by 15 April 2013 if you want to request this.
