Pay council tax

How to pay your council tax

You usually pay your council tax bill in instalments over 10 months.

Your council tax account number

When you come to pay your council tax, you will need to use your council tax account number so that any payment is credited to you and not someone else.

It is the eight-digit number printed in a box at the top right-hand corner of the bill (eg 11098113).

Pay council tax by direct debit

The most efficient way to pay your council tax is by direct debit.

Print off, fill in and return the Council tax direct debit form

Call 01483 523500 during office opening hours (see Council location page for opening times).  You will need to have your bank account details to hand.
