Gas safety checks
By law we must check your gas appliances once a year to make sure they are safe and working properly. We will make an appointment to do this. It is essential that you let us in to carry out these checks. If you do not, it may put lives at risk and we may take legal action in order to gain entry.
Please call 0330 119 3000 during office hours to make an appointment for your annual service.
Gas leaks
If you smell gas then you must:
- telephone Transco on 0800 111999. It doesn't matter who your gas supplier is. Always ring Transco in emergencies.
- turn off all gas appliances immediately
- open the windows
- put out any naked flames including cigarettes
- turn off the gas supply by closing the handle next to your gas meter
- do not switch on the lights or any electrical appliances until Transco tells you the fault is repaired
