Planned maintenance works to your council home
How we carry out these works
To keep your home in good condition and well maintained, we plan some work in advance including:
- painting the outside
- replacing windows and external doors
- mending gates and fences
- upgrading paths and drives
- re-roofing and guttering
Every year we make a list of the planned maintenance we intend to do and discuss with the Waverley Tenants Panel.
We have a rolling programme of works and prioritise according to the budget we have available to us. We do this by identifying the work that is most needed to keep homes weather tight, safe, and structurally sound.
Telling you about planned works
We will write to you with as much notice as we can if we plan to carry out work on your home. We will try to give you a choice of finish if possible.
Letting us in
You must let us in to your home to carry out repairs, inspections, or other work. All our staff and contractors should show you an identity card before asking to come in.
If they don't show you ID then you should not allow them in. If you have any concerns about the identity of an operative please call 0330 119 3000 (during office hours) and we can check whether the caller is genuine.
You must also let us in if we need to carry out work on a neighbouring home. If we need to come in, unless it is an emergency we usually give you at least 24 hours' notice and try to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.
In an emergency, if we are unable to contact you, we may have to force entry, to prevent damage to your own or a neighbour's home. Should this be necessary the Police will be asked to attend and ensure that your possessions are safe. We will make good any damage.
