Godalming Leisure Centre Plans
What's happening to Godalming Leisure Centre?
Work continues at Godalming Leisure Centre.
Building work is progressing to schedule on the new Godalming Leisure Centre. The project will take approximately 18 months and is due to be completed in Autumn 2012. The facilities will include:
- 25 metre, six lane swimming pool
- 12 metre by eight metre learner pool
- fitness suite with 60 stations
- 120 square metre multi purpose dance and indoor sports area
- café and viewing area
Waverley Borough Council's Central Area Planning Committee approved the building project in March 2011. This allowed pre site preparation work to be carried out, to meet pre-planning conditions that needed to be met before they started the build. The application and details can be viewed on our online Planning Enquiry system: WA/2011/0008.
ISG is the contractor selected to build the centre and they have come up with some innovative and imaginative ideas, which we feel will meet the needs and expectations of Godalming residents. The new leisure centre will be much more energy efficient than the current building. Environmental initiatives within the new centre will include a bio mass boiler and photovoltaic panels - solar panels that convert the sun's rays into electricity.
