A Farmers' Market allows producers and growers to sell direct to the public subject to special rules.
The South West Surrey Farmers' Markets were established to:
- enable local farmers and producers to sell their produce direct to the public
- give consumers the chance to buy fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables, locally reared meat and home made products
- raise public awareness on issues such as GM foods, land management and organic farming
The Milford and Haslemere markets were initiatied by Waverley Borough Council and are now organised by the producer-run South West Surrey Farmers' Market Co-operative Ltd.
