  • Volunteering at Frensham Common

    Volunteer sessions take place every Wednesday from 10:00 – 15:30, apart from the second Wednesday of the month where the session will instead be at Mare Hill Common.

    Unless otherwise specified, meet at 10:00 at the Frensham Pond visitor centre, Bacon Lane, Churt, GU10 2QB. Sessions led by Darren.      

    Wednesday 17 October

    Barrows vegetation clearance: Today we will use the trusted combination of loppers and bowsaws to clear the barrows of vegetation. These scheduled ancient monuments are at risk of erosion and the clearance of scrub is a requirement of our Higher Level Stewardship agreement with Natural England.

    Meet at Frensham Pond Visitor Centre, Bacon Lane, Churt GU10 2QB.

    Heather mowing: Today we will be using the BCS mower to cut strips into the heather on The Flashes. The arising’s will be burnt on site, providing some warmth for our tea break!

    Rhododendron clearance: Contractors have been clearing large areas of rhododendron from around Axe pond; today we will be blending the remaining tunnels into the surrounding landscape.

  • Xplorer - Free Family Trail

    Explore the park, find the markers, complete the challenge and have fun together.

    Xplorer is a free, family-friendly navigation challenge that is educational and fun, and gives children a sense of adventure as they explore the park to find the markers to identify what is pictured and enjoy learning a fun fact to tell their friends.

    It involves a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making that the whole family can enjoy together. Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity for primary and pre-school children and their families.

    This time, it's Halloween themed - so make sure you wear your best Halloween costumes!

    Assist us with the management of this historic deer park.

    Volunteer sessions take place every Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 12:30 to assist in the management in this historic deer park. Meet at 9.30am at the Farnham Park ranger’s office next to the main car park on Folly Hill (GU9 0AU), or check site noticeboards and meet at the work location at 10am.
