  • The Manchester Carols

    • Saturday, 15 December 2018 at 19:30 - 21:30
    • Location: St Nicolas Church, Church Lane, Cranleigh GU6 8AS
    • Cost: £12.00

Join Cranleigh Choral Society for their performance of The Manchester Carols.

Music and narration of the Christmas story by composer Sasha Johnson Manning and Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy; together with carols for the audience.

Soprano - Martha Woodhams, Baritone - Andrew Thomas, Narrator - Roy Woodhams; with the Merriman Chamber Ensemble, conductor Catherine Beddison.

The Manchester Carols is an inspired collection of 12 carols, linked with a gentle, entertaining narration, which reshape and modernise the Christmas story. Its creators wanted to write something that is relevant to and reflects modern society, and which acknowledges the fact that even though someone might not subscribe to the religion behind the Nativity story, they can still appreciate it as an inspiring, magical tale.

    • Location: New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, Surrey

Irresistible hand-crafted lighting and illuminated artworks make a wonderful festive statement this season. We explore all facets of lighting where sculpture, colour and form meet.

Hannah_Nunn_Lamps_153Our intimate Balcony Gallery will be full to the rafters with beautiful pieces which can easily fit into home environments. We are careful to note the power of light as a medium in its own right, where light and shade create shadows and the colour and textures of shadow shifting with each piece create physically powerful works that take on the appearance of sculptural forms in space.

Visitors are encouraged to move freely around the space to take the lighting pieces in from all angles.

Presenting pieces by: Clio Anastasiou, Nichola Bendall - Words Ink, Dobby and Rose, Liv Cornall, Adele Goulty, Denis di Luca, Hannah Nunn, Liz Scrine, Surrey Woodsmiths and Meryl Till.
