    An exhibition which reveals the fascinating history of Haslemere, told through beautifully-illustrated story boards, where visitors will be taken on a journey about the history of the town.

  • LUMIERE-LIGHT-LICHT

    Godalming Museum is hosting a striking exhibition of paintings celebrating the light after the darkness of war.

    It features works by local artists from Godalming and its twinned towns of Mayen and Joigny, such as this piece by stained glass artist Rachel Mulligan.

    The exhibition’s official opening took place in Joigny last November, and it will also go on display in Mayen later this year.

    Godalming Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday (10am-5pm).

  • Volunteering at Farnham Park

    Assist us with the management of this historic deer park.

    Volunteer sessions take place every Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 12:30 to assist in the management in this historic deer park. Meet at 9.30am at the Farnham Park ranger’s office next to the main car park on Folly Hill (GU9 0AU), or check site noticeboards and meet at the work location at 10am.

    Hedge laying: Continuing with laying the Queen Mother’s Hedge. Meet at the newly-laid section of hedge, east of the sports pavilion and football pitches.

    Wednesday 6 February

    Hazel coppicing: We will be creating a new coppicing compartment and building a dead hedge. Meet at the Bells Piece end of the Avenue.

    Wednesday 13 February

    Vegetation cutting and ditch clearance: We will be cutting overhanging vegetation from path edges and clear a blocked/overgrown ditch. Meet at the Swallow Hole.

    Wednesday 20 February

    Vegetation cutting: We will clearing paths of overhanging vegetation. Meet at the Cross Bench.

    Wednesday 27 February

    Cutting vegetation: We will be thinning saplings to allow those remaining space to fully develop. Meet at the ‘old Oaks (south of Motorway Bridge).

  • Volunteering at Mare Hill Common

    • Location: Mare Hill Common, Witley Roke Lane Witley GU8 5NZ
    • Cost: Free

    Volunteer sessions from 10:00 - 15:30 usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month, though there are occasional sessions on other Wednesdays.

    Meet 10:00 at the small car park off Roke Lane, Witley, GU8 5NZ (SU 936 399). Sessions led by Vicky.

    Scrub clearance: Clearing more scrub and small trees from the heathland to preserve its open character.

    Wednesday 13 February

    Scrub clearance: Our final session this winter of clearing scrub from the heathland, ensuring that this rare habitat is in top condition for the specialist bird species to start nesting next month.

    Wednesday 13 March

    Glade management and holly clearance: Opening up a sunny woodland glade through clearing encroaching young trees and scrub, and removing some of the dense holly understory from the woodland.

  • Volunteering at Phillips Memorial Park

    Help restore the much-loved Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming by joining in with other volunteers on the second Wednesday of the month from 10:00 – 13:00.

    Meet at the volunteer shed on The Burys next to the play area, GU7 1EE. Sessions led by James.
