    Assist us with the management of this historic deer park.

    From March to May inclusive, we are running two volunteer sessions per month on a Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 12:30, and then from June onwards there will be a session every Wednesday morning. Meet at 9.30am at the Farnham Park ranger’s office in the main car park on Folly Hill (GU9 0AU) or check site noticeboards and meet at the work location at 10am.

    Wednesday 20 June and 27 June

    Himalayan balsam removal: Himalayan balsam is a non native invader which has spread across parts of the Park at the expense of native vegetation. We are aiming to halt its spread by pulling up as many plants as possible. Meeting place to be confirmed.

    Wednesday 4, 11, 18, and 25 July

    Himalayan balsam removal: We will be continuing in our battle with this pink peril. This month we are aiming push this invader right back and eradicate it from parts of the Park. Meeting place to be confirmed.

    Wednesday 1, 8, and 15 August

    Himalayan balsam removal: We will re-visit previously cleared areas to removed any plants which escaped our attention last month. Meeting place to be confirmed.

    Wednesday 22 and 29 August

    Traditional hay making: We will be cutting and raking grassland areas to create favourable conditions for wild flowers and prevent scrub and brambles from taking over. Meeting place to be confirmed

    Wednesday 5, 12, 19, and 26 September

    Scrub clearance: We will be clearing scrub in the grazing area to make new areas accessible for the cattle. Meeting place to be confirmed.
