Stewart has lived in Cranleigh since 1967 where he met his wife Jeanette, they have a son, daughter and four grandchildren who all live locally. They founded their company in 1969, which supplies equipment to utilities and recycling centres, specialist haulage and general hire equipment.

Being a local employer he has always been keen to actively contribute to the Cranleigh community. In particular he is interested in promoting awareness of environmental issues and is a member of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners and is a Freeman of the City of London.

He is a keen cricketer and President of his cricket club and believes sport is good for all, young and old, teamwork and involvement being an essential part of building a community for the benefit of all.

Those who know Stewart would say he stands for common sense and fairplay.

Stewart Quote: " As a local employer I have an insight into the pressures Cranleigh residents face in the current climate. In particular this is reflected in the sense of despondency felt by the young, but I believe it's essential for all our futures that they should be encouraged to re-engage, to feel a sense of worth."

Cllr Stennett is a member of the Eastern Area Planning Committee.
