I was born in Chatham, Kent in March 1935.  I joined the Army in 1953, and became a regular officer in the Royal Engineers, leaving the service in 1988.

I then joined Royal Ordnance plc as an engineer, but in 1991 was transferred to managing their landmine clearance programme in Kuwait.  I have been working in mine clearance planning and evaluation ever since in twenty-two countries, most recently in Afghanistan.

In 1962 I married Ann, who has supported me nobly in all I have done.  We have lived in Farnham since 1968, and have three daughters and 10 grandchildren.

My family links with Farnham go back to the First World War, when my aunt worked as a VAD in Waverley Hospital, and she and my father lived in Old Farnham Lane.

I am a member of the local Neighbourhood Watch.

Cllr Blagden is a member of the following Committees:-

  • Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee
  • Joint Planning Committee
