Councillor Peter Martin

Peter and his wife and 3 children have lived in Godalming since 1987. He has an Honours Degree in Geography from Durham University and is a qualified accountant. He was a VSO in Khartoum, Sudan where he was a teacher for two years.

He retired in 2003 after thirty-three years in international IT industry. He held senior management positions in finance and marketing in London, New York and Paris.

He was first elected to Godalming Town Council in 1991 and was elected as Mayor of Godalming in May 2005. He was elected to both Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council in a by-election in September 2005.

Peter is a keen musician, a Rotarian, School Governor and worships at Godalming Parish Church.
