Councillor Robert Knowles

Robert was born in Haslemere and has lived in the town all his life. He has been in public service all of his adult life working 39 years for Surrey Police as both police officer and civilian. He is involved with the voluntary sector including the League of Friends of Haslemere Hospital where he is an active member.

Robert is particularly interested in health and law and order and is involved in campaigns to keep Haslemere Hospital fully operational with beds, out patients and minor casualty, for the benefit of the surrounding area, whilst ensuring Haslemere has access to a local Accident and Emergency unit.

He believes it is vital that Haslemere isn't ignored by Councils, Police Authority or the Primary Care Trust due to its border location.

Robert is Leader of the Council.
