Brian has lived in Cranleigh since 1975. He is married to Patricia, who is also a borough councillor, and they have four daughters and three grandchildren. He retired in 1993 after 35 years in the IT industry and then gained a Diploma in Garden Design at Merrist Wood.
He has represented Cranleigh West on both the borough and parish councils since May 1995.He was chairman of Cranleigh Parish Council from 1999 to 2002 and Mayor of Waverley for 2002/2003. He is a member of the Management Committee of the Surrey County Association of Town and Parish Councils, the Cranleigh Initiative, the Cranleigh Healthcheck Steering Committee, and is also a trustee of the Waverley Youth Project.
He has a keen interest in planning, and would like to ensure that Cranleigh is a vibrant and prosperous centre while retaining its pleasant village atmosphere. His hobbies include his family, classical music, gardening and DIY.
He was elected chairman of Cranleigh Parish Council in May 2005.
